About us

Your teacher

Christina Patzman comes from a long line of seamstresses and jokes that she learned how to sew in her mother's womb. Her grandmother was a dressmaker for 40 years and taught Christina clothing design and sewing with a hands-on and practical approach. Christina started making clothing while in junior high and continued designing and sewing throughout high school. She studied apparel design in college – receiving a BA in Apparel Design in 1991. Christina has had several lines of clothing that have sold both locally and nationally. She has been teaching sewing classes since 2008, and especially loves helping students with garment design and construction.

Mission statement

To teach the accessible, sustainable, mindful act of sewing.

We believe that making your own creations is good for you and the world. It is a way to express yourself, add value to your life and use what you already have. It is a different way of interacting with the world, as it slows you down and gives you the opportunity to look at the textiles you interact with every day.
